Large or small - Short or Tall
-
We make them
all
You can
specify variations to a standard
format
and have a cabinet,
rack or curio
case customized
to fit your items and space limitations.
Tallest units accommodates up to 12 shelves. |
|
|
ZIPcabs Flexible Design
gives you the option to choose from
four styles.
The basic unit is the Rack Style
that is open on the top, we add crown molding to create the Cabinet Style,
and to the Cabinet we can add doors, or we add a Plexiglas front
to create the Curio
Case style.
Each style comes with several options which allow
you to customize it to your needs and desires. For some items,
it may only
be a variety of finish colors, but most products have various
options which allow you to change the look, function, or
capacity.
But if you actually find that you NEED a custom size or some
other custom specifications
Flexible Design
allows us to
modify any of our products - and it's typically inexpensive to
do so.
You get a truly custom product without the custom price!

SHELF SUPPORTS -
The invention |
How does the
adjustable shelf
feature work?
See
clip and other
features
Note:
Adjustable
shelf feature
is patented and
currently only
available on
ZIPcabs products
It's as
simple as a
Zipper --
You
determine
where you want
the shelf.
You move the
shelf
support and
shelf to
desired
location --
then
tighten the
screw to
lock shelf
in place.
Each ZipCab has
vertical
channels which
allows our
patented ZipCabs
clip assembly to
slide up or
down.
The clip
assembly grasps
the shelf to
support and hold
it in place.
You can move the
shelves to any
location to
accommodate
height of
whatever you're
displaying. |

While we do have some standard configurations of popular items, most of our production is specifically made to your order. |

OVERVIEW OF
ZIPCABS -
The styles
You have a
catalog of
standard items.
Are custom made
items more
expensive than a
catalog item?
No. All our
production is
made to order.
A custom item
follows the same
production
process as a
standard item.
Normally no
additional labor
is required for
a custom item.
What
is the
difference
between a rack ,
a cabinet, and a
case?
A "rack"
is open on
the top.
A "cabinet"
has a top shelf
and crown
molding across
the top.
(Doors
can be installed
for an enclosed
cabinet.}
A "case"
is a cabinet
with a removable
Plexiglas front.
The Plexiglas
rests in a grove
in the bottom
shelf and is
secured behind
the crown
molding on the
top.
It is removable
by lifting it up
and out of the
frame.
How many sizes
do we make?
The
possibilities
are almost
endless.
Height:
From 14 to 36"
in 1/4"
increments.
Widths:
12", 15", 18",
21", 24", 27",
and 30"
Depths:
of 3", 4", 5" or
6".
Up to 12
adjustable
shelves may be
ordered
for the tallest
(36") unit.
From these
combinations we
can assemble
over 900 sizes.
With other
options the
possibilities
are into the
thousands.
How do I
estimate the
size and
configuration of
a unit?
To help you
determine size
and
configuration or
a unit you
should
approximate the
total lineal
inches your
items require.
After you have
determined the
shelf space
needed you may
want to use
this chart
to help
visualize the
various
configurations
that may be
appropriate.
Why not larger
sizes?
We limit the
size because UPS
and US Parcel
Post have size
limitations of
items
they will
accept.
|
How do I
assemble it?
read
instructions
here
No assembly is
needed—the
unit is shipped
with clip sets
placed in
approximate
location
How do I lock
shelves in place
read
instructions
here
Just move each
shelf's ZIPcab
clip into place
and turn the
screw to lock.
How do they
mount on the
wall?
See
hanger rail.
We drill
holes thru the
back panel for
you to place
screws.
The holes are
drilled 16"
apart on
cabinets at
least 21" wide.
You may need
plastic anchors
or molly bolts
if you can not
mount on studs.

GENERAL
INFORMATION |
|
Do all shelves
have
the safety lip?
Cases with
Plexiglas front
do not. Others
have 3/16" high
lips.
You have a
picture of a
spice cabinet on
a pantry door.
What restrains
the bottles?
We custom make
these units with
1 1/4" high lip
on each
shelf.
How much more
expensive is a
case?
Plexiglas panel
adds from $10.00
to $40.00 to
price of the
unit.
Tax?
We charge sales
tax for orders
shipped to
Washington
state.
Why isn't there
a secure order
form or shopping
cart?
We need only the
most basic
information when
you order from
this site, so
there is no need
for a secure
order form or
shopping cart.
We will take
your credit card
number over the
phone
—
please do not
send it in
email, as that
can be risky.
Can I stack 2
units? I need
taller units
than you show...Yes,
we can make them
stackable.
What are the
options for the
back panel? Is
there a price
difference?
Oak plywood or
white melamine
(hardboard).
White melamine
is less
expensive and
there is a cost
savings because
it is
pre-finished
when we receive
it.
Why do most of
the cases have a
white melamine
back panel?
this
allows better
light reflection
— a wanted
feature for most
collectors.
What material is
used For
the shelves? For
the frame?
This depends on
the width and
depth of the
cabinet. Narrow
units can be
ordered with
white melamine
or oak plywood
shelves. Units
from 18" to 24"
are normally
1/4" oak
plywood.
Units over 24"
are built using
1/2" oak
plywood. ZipCabs
frames are solid
oak.
